First Joint Cluster - THEMIS Science Workshop
The first joint Cluster - THEMIS science workshop will be held
Tuesday, September 23, 2008 to Friday, September 26, 2008,
at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH, USA.
Schedule (preliminary, as of 6/28/2008)
Topics
The workshop will be organized into plenary sessions, topical breakout sessions, and poster sessions. Splinter meetings can be held on the Monday before the meeting, September 22, at the same locations.
The meeting will cover all science addressed by the two missions, in particular:
- solar wind, foreshock, bow-shock, and magnetosheath
- polar cusp and the magnetopause
- magnetotail and nightside auroral region
- inner magnetosphere (radiation belts, ring current, and plasmasphere)
- plasma sheet and substorms
- magnetic storms

Registration
The registration fee is $325 USD. Meals included are continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon break, and banquet on Wednesday, September 24, held at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye, NH.

The fee for registrations completed after August 22, 2008 will be $400 USD.
Abstracts
Abstracts are due by August 1. Please send your abstracts by e-mail to ct08abstracts. Abstracts should be formatted in plain text (see template below), at most 200 words long, and with no special characters (LaTeX or otherwise). The final program will be published on the meeting web site by July 31.

Air Travel Options
Nearest full-service airport: Manchester, NH
Closer and more convenient than Boston, but fewer connections. Has a convenient Southwest Airlines shuttle service to BWI. Driving time: ~50 minutes.
Logan International Airport, Boston, Mass.
Expect heavy traffic and road construction. Driving time: 70-90 min.
Shuttles Serving Area Airports
Hampton Shuttle runs from both airports, stops at the New England Conference Center at UNH and locations in Portsmouth. $49 one way from Logan, $46 one way from Manchester. Check web site for more information.

Mermaid Transportation Offers 5 daily trips from Manchester to the New England Conference Center on campus. $32 one-way and $64 round-trip. Call to reserve a seat: (800) 696-2463.
If flying into Logan, Regal Limousine and Flight Line Inc. provide transportation to UNH.
C&J Trailways bus line runs from Logan to their Portsmouth bus terminal, round trip $39. If you take this, you will need to take a taxi to Durham. Thell the bus driver that you will need a taxi, he will call it in for you. The terminal closes at 10PM.

Parking on Campus
- There will be a limited number of permits available for C lot on Mill Rd. across from the shopping center for meeting registrants. Contact Amber Perkins to request a permit. She will add your name to a list which will be provided to the attendant the the C Lot booth. You will pick up your permit from the attendant on the first day of the meeting.
- Attendees staying at a Durham hotel are requested to walk to the meeting as parking is limited.
- If you are a guest at the New England Center, parking is free.
- Parking police are vigilant and tickets are expensive ($50 to $100 is typical).
